The Giver by Lois Lowry
Chapter 1-4
by: Manuela Del SolarI hope you like it .....
We can see that Jonas is a member of a society that has many rules. This society has many rules like telling their feelings at the end of the day and they need to follow them because if you don’t follow them then you have a punishment or you can be relisted. Jonas is in the group of the elevens and in December there will be a ceremony of the twelve. In the ceremony they will assign their roll on the community. In the next chapter we can see that every year the give some especial gifts for the groups another important thing we can see is that Jonas father took a baby name Gabe that was not growing up faster and they were going to realest him but Jonas father took care of him. On chapter 3 there are explaining that being a birth mother is the worst job you can take because you only work for 3 years and then you don’t do anything more also somethiong rare happens to jonas, that when he throws the apple it change to color for Jonas eyes. So it says that you don’t have honor. One thing important is that everyone on the society wears tunics and don’t see the colors all for them is in black and white. Last chapter i have read talks about being relisted and that we yet don’t know where the people go went they get relisted and why does the kids cannot go.
One thing that really stands out to me is when
"But suddenly Jonas had notice, following the path of the apple through
the air with his eyes, that the piece of fruit had - well, this was the part
that he couldn’t adequately understand- the apple had change."(Lowry, 24).
This stand out to me because no one have seen colors but rarely Jonas saw the
apple when he throw it change of color. I thing this is a signal for Jonas that
he is special I think maybe he haves special eyes or maybe we will change the
society.he is special and he is going to make something special.
My thinking:
Finally I think that from my
point of view Jonas is not a normal kid he really haves something especial that
he will make him change, change the society or something more. When he saw the
apple I realized that in the society they don’t see colors. Way they don’t see
in colors? another thing that made me think is when they see that Gabe had the
same shape of the eyes of Jonas , maybe he is his brother I mean that he had
the same birthmother. In conclusion Jonas is special and nobody in the
community is like Jonas except for the giver. in conclution this shows individuality because he is the only boy that have seen the apple change of color.
Cant wait to read chapter 5!!!
